sharing ten of my favourite reading journal spreads

Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish meme originally created by The Broke and the Bookish and currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week is supposed to be a Halloween freebie but since I don’t really do Halloween, I decided to make it a general freebie instead and I’m going to share some of my favourite spreads from my 2025 reading journal with you!

This is my consistency tracker. One of my main reading goals for this year was to read more consistently. On my spreadsheet I have a page to tick off every day that I read anything , but this page specifically tracks progress to one of my subgoals: read for at least 30 minutes a day, four days per week. As you can see I have definitely not been perfect about reaching this but it’s a really good way to keep an eye on it.

I also have goals about reading more short stories so if I read a short story the week I also write the title next to it.

These are two of my favourite spreads even if they’re pretty incomplete and will likely remain so.

On the left I picked 12 books I wanted to read this month and I’m drawing in the covers when I get to them. On the right I’m. colouring in the pictures when I read a book for the Storygraph Reads the World challenge.

This is one of my other favourite goal-tracking spreads and it’s a little bit more successful than the previous one (although still not entirely so) – this post is really a sneak peek for some of my end of year posts hehe.

One of my goals was to read more books by authors I know I like and to continue more series that I have started. Along the top here I have four authors, and I’m filling in the covers as I read their books. The bottom half if series I had started and not caught up with and I fill in a square anytime I read a book in the series.

My unread TBR is a little bit out of hand and I don’t have that much spare cash at the moment either, so I decided to make a rule for myself about when I could buy books. There are some exceptions and additional allowances etc. but the general rule was 3 books read for 1 book purchased.

Here you can see how each quarter I fill in the squares in the three lefthand columns to check how many books I’ve read, and each row I fill gives me one chance to buy a book, which I check off after I’ve bought it by filling in the righthand column.

These are some of the most complete goal tracking sheets! On the left is my tracker for reading backlist published before 2025, and on the right is the bookshelf I’m filling in with all my reads for the year.

I split my year into quarters a lot for planning purposes etc. and I utilised that quite a bit in my planner as well. Including for splitting up the main section of my planner where I have monthly sections to talk about my TBR, books I’ve read etc. These are split into the four quarters with a bit of a ‘cover’ page for each quarter where I can fill in my three favourite books – 1 per month – of the quarter. I was especially pleased with my winter quarter (Jan-Mar) cover page. It’s just pretty hehe.

Speaking of pretty! Coincidentally, my cover page for May is similar to my quarter 1 cover page although others have a lot more variety. But I really like my overview page for May, which is the one on the right.

The top tracks my TBR and the bottom bit my progress through books I’ve picked up.

How do you keep track of your reading? Do you have any fun ideas I could use for my 2026 reading journal? Let me know!

Keira x

Thank you! I’ve definitely made less pretty/aesthetic ones in the past xD I just like getting to write down my progress throughout the year in one way or another.

I love a good list. I’m not usually a journalling person but I am a goal setting person so I decided to give it ago this year for reading goal tracking specifically.

Thank you! I really tried this year, even if some of it sort of trailed off towards the end of the year as I got busier. I’m trying to find a nice balance for next year!

These are such pretty pages! I’m not artistic, so I keep track of my reading in lists, spreadsheets, and on Goodreads. It’s not very creative, but it works for me. I do love seeing people’s reading/bullet journals because they’re always so lovely and fun. Thanks for sharing yours.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

Thank you! As much as I like a pretty journal I also love some good statistics so I also have a very over-engineered spreadsheet hehe. I also track on Storygraph primarily and on Goodreads a bit as well! Thanks for stopping by :))
